Rod RAS

Retrato do artista Rod RAS

Rod RAS (1990) is a Brazilian textile artist whose practice is rooted in self-portraiture, using autobiographical narratives to explore identity, desire, belonging, and transformation.

Organized into series that reflect different stages of his artistic journey, his work transforms personal experience into symbolic imagery, examining sexual repression, guilt, internalized stigma, and the search for acceptance, drawing on his lived experience as a gay man as the starting point for these reflections.

In his work, the unclothed body becomes a site of vulnerability, while mythological references, queer imagery, and elements of the Brazilian natural world converge to create narratives in which the delicacy of embroidery contrasts with the emotional intensity of the subjects explored.

Works in private collections across 20 countries.
